Solitary Watch Offers Vital Support and Advocacy to People in Solitary Confinement
MAKE A TRIPLED DONATION TO SOLITARY WATCH TODAY
Dear Friends:
Since its founding, Solitary Watch has maintained contact with thousands of people who inhabit the darkest corners of the U.S. punishment system, cut off from human contact and out of sight of the public and the press. They have served as our eyes and ears as we report on solitary confinement.
At the same time, we keep in touch with them personally through letters, newsletters, and cards. For some people, this is their only contact with the outside world.
We have featured hundreds of pieces of their writing in our Voices from Solitary series, and more recently, we have supported the work of dozens of incarcerated journalists.
Our work assures people in solitary that their voices are being heard and their experiences understood beyond the walls of their cells.
This work is possible only with your support. Before you depart to celebrate with family and friends, please take a moment to consider what it is like to be cut off not only from loved ones but also from all humanity—on holidays and every day.
Then please give whatever you can to allow our work to continue and grow.
Now through the end of November, your gift to Solitary will be TRIPLED, up to $1,000 per donation, thanks to NewsMatch and the Heising-Simons Foundation. If you choose to make your gift recur monthly, all twelve of your donations will be matched throughout the year.
From everyone on the Solitary Watch team, thank you for your generosity and caring.
With deep gratitude,
Jean Casella
Director, Solitary Watch
Juan Moreno Haines
Editor-in-Chief, Solitary Watch
p.s. This is the only time of year for matched donations. Any amount is appreciated—and tripled if donated in November, so that every dollar counts THREE TIMES!
